Nutritional Therapist

I am a Clinical Nutritional Therapist who adopts a Functional Medicine approach to health. I am particularly interested in the field of gut health, hormonal imbalances and post viral support.

My interest in nutrition began when I underwent numerous problems after being treated with chemotherapy as a teenager. I normalised symptoms, convincing myself it was just the way my body worked. This changed when I began to study nutrition and better understood normal bodily function. After three years studying Naturopathic Nutrition at the College of Naturopathic Medicine, I could not be happier sharing my knowledge with others and helping my clients live happier and healthier lives.

Whilst studying, gut health and immunity were always my main interest due to my own medical history. The gut is not an isolated organ and works in synergy with the rest of the body. It contains 75-80% of our immune system, is responsible for 80% of our total serotonin production, it is where we digest and utilise our nutrients and energy, amongst other things. I believe gut health is a key pillar to health.

A better understanding of hormonal health has allowed me to better understand how my body works and how hormonal balance is key to good health. Whilst studying, a friend was diagnosed with severe endometriosis, another with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and so many suffering with Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS) or painful, debilitating period pains. These are things common in women, but not normal! With ongoing daily stressors, it is increasingly difficult to balance our endocrine system, but balance can be achieved through a long term, sustained approach.
